Why I built it
I wanted to know one thing: when could I stop saving for retirement and still retire on time? The Coast FIRE calculators I found answered that for one American with no pension. Most people I know are in couples, many have a pension or a state pension coming, and plenty of them live outside the US.
So I built a calculator that starts from those situations. It works for singles and couples, takes a pension into account, and handles thirteen countries’ currencies and number formats. It gives a plain answer on a phone screen, shows every step of the maths, and lets you check in once a month to see if you are on track.
How it works
Everything runs in your browser. There are no accounts and nothing you type is sent to me. The maths is explained in full on the methodology page, and the calculator is tested against known answers before every change goes live.
The site is free. I may show ads in the future to pay for it. If I do, they will never change the numbers the calculator gives you.
